About MARS
As Miniature Australian Shepherds have become more popular, Mini Aussies have started turning up in shelters and with rescue groups across the United States. Our purpose in starting MARS is to develop a nationwide organization supporting Mini Aussies in need, their human families, and the many volunteers that want to help.
MARS was incorporated as an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit charity in 2004. By forming as one national group, we hope to encourage cooperation between the many people in different areas who are helping Mini Aussies and to let them share resources.
MARS Mission Statement
Mini Aussie Rescue & Support, Inc. (MARS) is an all-volunteer non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing homeless, unwanted, abused or neglected Miniature Australian Shepherd dogs. MARS will rehabilitate and place lost, unwanted or needy Miniature Australian Shepherds into new homes; assist those individuals who have a need to surrender a Miniature Australian Shepherd; educate the public about Miniature Australian Shepherds; and promote responsible dog ownership and breeding.
MARS took in its first rescue Mini Aussie in January of 2005. We plan to rescue Mini Aussies of all ages, large and small. Our goal is to someday be able to provide a home for every Mini Aussie in need. We're working on expanding our volunteer network so we can help dogs all across the country.
